Please reach us at frintonrotary@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
We are focused on bringing together like-minded individuals who share a passion for community voluntary action and support. We organize events, share resources, and provide a platform for networking and collaboration.
We are often asked about who benefits from our fine efforts. This year has seen us contribute to the following in our community, district and farther afield. We also contribute to much much more, but here is a taste of what we have been doing and for whom:
AND SO MUCH MORE!!
We organize a variety of events throughout the year, including workshops, seminars, networking events, and social gatherings. Our events are designed to provide opportunities for learning, networking, and having fun with like-minded individuals.
Frinton-on-Sea Rotary Club is proud to be part of a world-wide organisation, with in excess of 1.3 million members. In GB / Ireland, there are over 1,700 clubs with over 47,000 members, each within their own communities and districts, but with a global outlook. All 47,000 members volunteer time and talents to tackle challenges at home and abroad in areas of:
We are “People of Action”, ready to turn our ideas and vision into lasting change, by creating opportunities, supporting those who need it most and transforming their lives. Where others see problems, we see solutions, tapping into our professional skills, experience and knowledge to make a difference. We use our time, energy and passion to mobilise our communities to get the job done. There are many projects and activities in which to become involved. Our impact starts with our members — people who see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change.
Since 1947, Frinton-on-Sea Rotary Club has been raising funds for local schools, organisations, local endeavours and churches, together with schemes organised by Rotary nationally and internationally to provide aid where it is needed. We are very active club, enjoying good fellowship with good natured banter over a meal and a drink with much laughter then, maybe, it’s a guest speaker or just putting the world to rights. Or maybe planning our next event creating an opportunity to put something back into the local community. Our major fund raisers include the Christmas Sleigh campaign, the Christmas Carol Service, the annual Golf Day held at Frinton Golf Club, the Jutland Jug quiz, Frinton Cricket week, Ukraine appeal, Frinton Summer theatre treats for the elderly and disabled.
Our Unique Community
Frinton-on-Sea was, until late Victorian times, just a few cottages, farms and a church. In the 1890’s Richard Powell Cooper began developing the town, stipulating the quality of housing and hotels and prohibiting boarding houses and pubs. Frinton became host to high society, early in the 20th century, with the Prince of Wales (and Mrs Simpson), Winston Churchill, Gracie Fields, Douglas Fairbanks (and Junior) being regular visitors along with many other popular society luminaries and celebrities.
Among the attractions are the annual festival, the famous Frinton Summer Theatre, biennial Open Gardens event, the wonderful Golf, Cricket, Yacht, Tennis clubs and its central shopping street, Connaught Avenue, with predominately owner-operated shops and eateries.. Not forgetting of course the splendid, award winning beaches and huts which attract thousands of visitors every year.
Walton-on-the-Naze is just up along the coast, where the sandy beaches continue for another two miles right up to the Naze - a nose of land from which the town gets its name. From the start of the 19th century, Walton had become and remains a popular seaside resort, working hard to live up to its reputation as ‘England’s friendliest resort’. With a pier, a collection of fine hostelries and amusements for all the family, Walton is also blessed with two natural features, its backwaters and its Naze cliffs and open space with its iconic Naze Tower. This was built as a seamark by Trinity House in 1720 and today is open to the public as a cafe, art gallery and museum with a splendid viewing platform at the top from which the Orwell estuary and Suffolk coast can be seen. The town has many independent shops and eateries and is home to the Walton and Frinton Yacht Club, Essex Wildlife Trust Centre, Titchmarsh Marina, Swimming Pool and our RNLI Lifeboat Station.
We get together to grow our exchange ideas, meet new friends and volunteer in our communities
